Since a couple of weeks some number owners have reported that the Federal Network Agency is currently proving their ownership databases. Therefore, number ownerships, primary from companies that do not exist any more or got temporary deleted from the commercial register.
In these cases, the Federal Network Agency contacts the network operator, where the numbers are hosted, and announces to shutdown the number and to cancel the ownership, unless it is not immediately proven that the number is still in use. Therefore, it is mandatory to provide evidence as well as a request for correcting. (e.g., for 0800 numbers here).
Some customer already reported about large carriers forwarding those messages by the Federal Network Agency not at all or only delayed. As a result the deadline could be reached and the number would be unassigned.
We therefore recommend all allocation holders to proactively and promptly check whether a correction of the allocation data is necessary.
Background of the measure:
A new internal IT application has been introduced at the Federal Network Agency, whereby all the customer files of individual departments, which were previously kept separately, are now being merged throughout the agency. The aim is to ensure that applicants for telephone numbers, frequency allocations, etc. are not recorded more than once, but only once throughout the authority. At the same time, the data files are currently being checked for expired or non-existent allocation subscribers.
